The second edition of the series "Lublin Sounds" organized by the Lublin Branch of the Association of Polish Musical Artists will focus on the work of Polish composers. The Polish style, whether in the music of the nineteenth century or later, has become a recognizable idiom in the world. Thanks to the protagonists of these musical meetings in the Crown Tribunal, the world has heard again and again about the works of Polish composers and had the opportunity to appreciate their often unique artistic values. Therefore, on the 100th anniversary of Poland’s independence, we present you with a series of concerts, each dedicated to a different Polish composer.
The series of concerts is co-financed by the City of Lublin Office.
Oh, the great poem of nature! Who can
follow the beauty of thy eternal inspiration?
The above words begin the last stanza of Adam Asnyk’s poem, Morskie Oko, describing the same nature that Zygmunt Noskowski described in his overture. This composer is a "truly Polish" author. Therefore, the August concert will present compositions referring to a trend initiated by Stanisław Moniuszko – a trend that dominated in Polish music until the times of Karol Szymanowski – a trend that was the synonym of the word “Polish” for Poles living in the partitioned Poland. Zygmunt Noskowski was the most successful propagator of this trend.
The programme of the concert includes vocal and instrumental compositions by both Noskowski and his contemporaries who drew inspiration from Moniuszko's achievements in composing music in a national spirit.
