Tilburg is the second largest city in the Dutch province of Brabantia. It is a model of a prospering urban organism. Its major industries are: textile, clothing, machine, electrotechnical, rolling stock construction. The City Museum of Ethnography, which has
a collection of jewellery, weapons, ritual masks and sculpture from Africa, Asia and America, is a great tourist attraction. An important function in the city’s development is performed by the University of Economic Sciences which is the only such research centre in western Europe. The school of textile industry is an example of a modern vocational school. Tilburg’s development strategy anticipates that its population will grow to 250, 000 and that the city will become a strong and modern economic centre.
