“The system of LRM turned out to be a great success. I am happy that residents used it not only as a form of recreation, but also as an alternative for driving a car. It now plays an important part in the development programme of eco-friendly transport carried out by Lublin,” says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of the City of Lublin.
Since September 19, the beginning of LMR, people from Lublin used the bikes 128 664 times. There were 22 218 users registered in the system. According to the operator of the rental company, Nextbike Polska, bikes were rented on average every 47 seconds throughout the system’s operational period. It is worth pointing out that in the peak season in October (74 393 rentals in that month) the average was even higher: bicycles were rented on average every 39 seconds. The day record was reported on October 9, when the number of rentals was 3 647. The most active user rented a bicycle 354 times. Six bikers exceeded the number of 200 rentals.
“Launching the system of city bikes in Lublin was the greatest challenge for us since with 40 stations and 400 bicycles it is not only the second largest investment of this kind in Poland, but also the most advanced chain of rentals in our country. That is because of the video surveillance system, customer service office operating in the city and the fact that it is possible to rent tandems,” says Tomasz Wojtkiewicz, Director of Nextbike Polska. “We are satisfied because our efforts have paid off – Lublin city bikes are highly popular. In October and November we noticed a greater interest in city bicycles only in Warsaw. That is a good prognosis for the next season,” he adds.
The most popular stations in terms of rentals were:
ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście / ul. Krótka – 7.25% of all rentals
