Lublin is already making preparations to celebrate the greatest event in its modern history. The city will become a great stage of festivity for the whole year of its 700th anniversary in 1000 days. Residents of Lublin will participate in the preparation process. The programme will reflect the needs of Lublin inhabitants while its creation, based on social participation, will be a unique experience for all of us.
“We would like to once again, symbolically give Lublin the city charter. This time it would not be based on Magdeburg Law, but on Civic Law,” said Mayor Krzysztof Żuk at a special press conference on the 700th anniversary of Lublin which was held on April 7.
The upcoming 700th jubilee will be a remarkable yearlong celebration. In 1317, when Władysław Łokietek recognized Lublin as a city, he opened it to the European economy and culture. 700 years later, in 2017, we wish to reflect upon the significance of this event, go back to our roots and take a look into the future.
