The survey is a part of the tourism development strategy that is being created in the city. It aimed to obtain data on the following: overall touristic image of Lublin, preferences and reasons to visit Lublin, satisfaction from city’s tourism facilities, satisfaction from goods purchased and tourism services rendered, tourists’ expenditure during stay as well as the sources of knowledge about the city and finally overall satisfaction from the stay.

On question asked What encouraged you to come to Lublin?, almost half (47.6% of the respondents) said that they had been here before. For nearly 1/3 of those surveyed, the principal encouragement to visit Lublin was the recommendation from family and friends. Every fourth of the respondents indicated internet.

The biggest number of visitors, nearly 29.3 % visited our city mainly for touristic purposes, and in excess of 25% of the respondents came to take part in cultural events. For more than
68 % it was another visit to Lublin, and only every third of the visitors (31.4%) visited Lublin for the firs time. The survey showed that Lublin in the opinion of the respondents is a city of many attractive events that have unique framework. More than 50 % answered positively to the latter. More than half of people surveyed expressed their interest in cultural events in the city.

The unique image of the city was scored as good by 39.3% of the respondents. According to them the city atmosphere and the quality of restaurant facilities are the strongest points in Lublin’s offer. Both aspects were ranked at the first place in the survey.

The surveys and interviews were carried out in Polish, English, Ukrainian, Russian and German. In total there were 1000 questionnaires prepared, 700 in Polish and 300 in foreign languages. The survey was conducted from 15 of June to 9 of September among adult tourists.

Survey on the residents satisfaction
Next week the survey on satisfaction of city residents is scheduled to begin. In the Resident Affairs Offices you can meet canvassers. They will ask among others about the level of satisfaction concerning new refuse disposal system, education, general perception of the Mayor and the City Council, in total there is going to be dozens of questions. The survey is going to last till the end of the year.

Both surveys i.e. one pertaining to tourism and residents satisfaction are going to be held periodically.
