“We were striving very hard to establish a new connection between Lublin and Frankfurt and it is a historical moment for Lublin and its citizens. It offers perfect communication possibilities with many cities in Europe and worldwide which are important in terms of tourism and business and, as a consequence, the route gives access to transatlantic connections. I am really glad that the network of Lublin Airport connections is expanding successively and that the route to Frankfurt is the next connection after Milan and Rome already established this year,” says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of the City of Lublin.
Frankfurt is located in the second biggest metropolitan area in Germany and one of the largest economic regions in Europe. Lufthansa Group includes Lufthansa itself, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Germanwings and SWISS. In its summer flight schedule, the Group offers 301 connections to 102 countries thanks to transfer airports in Frankfurt, Munich, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Vienna and Zurich. At Frankfurt airport, passengers can take advantage of 15 business lounges which provide a comfortable place to relax, offices, quiet work space and exquisite restaurants.
“The establishment of the new connection between Lublin and Frankfurt is a historical moment not only for Lublin Airport, which is a relatively new European airport, but also for the whole Lublin region. The decision taken by Lufthansa proves the economic and tourist potential of our region,” says Krzysztof Wójtowicz, President of Lublin Airport. “I am sure that the route will be very popular. Firstly, flights to Frankfurt enable very good connections with transatlantic flights and to Israel, which is of particular importance for tourists. Secondly, Lufthansa creates a perfect opportunity to establish business contacts for main companies in the region offering flights e.g. to Aberdeen, Addis Ababa, Taipei, main cities of the United States and all European capitals. Lufthansa connects Lublin with the world via Frankfurt airport,” adds Wójtowicz.

Lufthansa strongly believes in business potential of the region. By offering Partner Plus Benefit, it provides a model loyalty programme for corporate clients and a trip management tool available for all companies in the region. In Poland, there are altogether circa 6 000 companies taking part in the Partner Plus Benefit Programme.
“We are proud to announce a new and very important connection from East Poland to Germany. Poland is one of the most developing markets for Lufthansa and Lublin Airport is the eighth airport in Poland from which we offer our services. This proves Lufthansa’s position as the leading traditional international airline in Poland. With the establishment of new routes, we offer a perfect connection with all the most important European cities, but also with New York, Chicago or Toronto,” underlines Bart Buyse, General Manager of Lufthansa Poland. “We are constantly developing our offer by providing an increasing number of passengers with a comfortable access to the global network of Lufthansa connections,” adds Buyse.
Lufthansa noted a record number of passengers who flew from and to Poland in 2013. Last year, the carrier welcomed on its boards 1 483 586 passengers, which was significantly more than in 2012.
