An official ceremony summing up the two-year project entitled “I AM CHANGE – Active Youth Incubator” was held on Thursday, November 26 at 12 p.m. in the Crown Tribunal in Lublin. More than 500 young people as well as 15 high schools in Lublin had a chance to participate in different project activities. They created 20 initiative projects that contributed to the change of their closest environment.

“I AM CHANGE – Active Youth Incubator” is a holistic programme of activities aimed at high school and university students from Lublin. Its main purpose is to engage young people in public life on the level of local communities as well as of the entire city. The ceremony featured a summary of individual project activities: Summer School for Coaches of Youth Groups [Wakacyjna Szkoła Coachów Grup Młodzieżowych] (2014), ‘Locomotives’ [Lokomotywy] (2014/2015), “Development in broad daylight” Activity Festival [Festiwal Aktywności „Rozwój w biały dzień”] (2015) and “The City of Change. Changing the City” [Miasto Zmian. Zmiana Miasta]. All the participants were also given a publication entitled “Changing the City. Youth for Lublin” [Zmiana Miasta. Młodzi dla Lublina] describing 5 action prototypes which were created and implemented by the project participants under the watchful eye of experts. Young people faced such challenges as how to engage the youth in entrepreneurship, exploit the potential of remote work in order to prevent creative people from leaving Lublin, how to turn one’s passion into profitable business and how to build a positive city climate.

A plenary discussion entitled “Does Lublin have to change in order to become a city for young people?” was held during the event. The discussion will feature youth representatives and invited guests including: Ms Joanna Wawiórka-Kamieniecka (Workshops of Culture), Mr Piotr Skrzypczak (Homo Faber Association), Mr Kacper Sulowski (Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper) and Mr Mateusz Małyska (Sempre a Frente Foundation).
