New Year's Eve in Lublin. Four stages with different music instead of a great star's concert

New Year's Eve in Lublin. Four stages with different music instead of a great star's concert

Every year Lublin residents ask who will be the greatest star of the New Year's Eve concert. This time there is no one simple answer. “New Year's Eve starts the carnival in which dance plays an extraordinary role. Starting from this assumption, we are offering an event that is targeted at a large audience and emphasises diversity of music and dance. We want everyone to be able to find something interesting for themselves,” organisers explain.

Lublin residents are going to greet the New Year's Day dancing by four different music stages. Different performers will play and different music genres will prevail on each stage. In the Old Town, the area of the Crown Tribunal will be dominated by the climate of retro dance parties: a cult group Czarne Lwy z Przedmieścia [The Black Lions from the Suburbs] and Umlaut Big Band from France will play on this stage. In the Ogród Saski bandshell, there will be a special programme for fans of reggae, hip-hop and electro. Performers like Chonabibe, Rasmentalism and DJ Kiano will appear there. If you look for modern dance, you will find it in the patio of the Centre for Culture. The biggest event during this New Year's Eve party, however, will be the meeting with Latin music. Among others, Polish-Cuban group Rei Ceballo, Calle Sol and a Polish drum band Ritmo-delia will perform there. “A dozen of people play in our band, most of them are Cuban and I can assure you that we perform real Cuban music, not a fake one,” says Barbara Kwiecień, band's manager. “Playing music, we invite people to dance and move their bodies. We will also show some dance moves. It will be a real fiesta!”

Obviously, everyone is able to dance but not everyone can do it. This is the reason why, since December, there will be free dance classes for Lublin residents willing to learn how to dance. Akademia Promocji Tańca Woszczek [Woszczek Academy of Dance Promotion], Dąbscy Dance Studio, New Boogie Down School, Passa Passa Dance Studio and others were invited to cooperate in this project.
