Statement of the City Council on the situation in Ukraine
25.03.201413:53
We strongly support Ukrainians’ democratic aspirations based on indispensible human and national rights to self-determination, freedom, statehood and independence.
At the same time, we ask all parties involved in the conflict to engage in open dialogue, thanks to which it will be possible to resolve the situation peacefully, restore Ukraine’s stability and enhance its development.
Our cooperation with twin cities in Ukraine has always been a priority of our activities concerning foreign relations. As a result, our authorities, schools and cultural institutions have strengthened their cooperation and carried out many joint projects. Taking into consideration this positive experience, we call on Polish authorities to provide Ukraine with generous political and economic support. We also appeal to our inhabitants, organizations and companies for aid and assistance to Ukrainians.
