The third edition of the Lubliner Festival - Jewish Culture Festival starts on August 9 and will last until August 14. The event will take place in the historical spaces of Lublin.
Music is in the centre of the Lubliner Festival. And, for the third time not so distant Jewish past of the city, will be presented to the inhabitants. They will dive into this culture – even for a moment – allowing them to meet the culture and tradition of former neighbours and friends. The programme includes 10 concerts to be held in the Inner courtyard (Wirydarz) of the Centre for Culture in Lublin, Lublin Philharmonics and the Concert Shell Amphitheatre in the Saski Garden.
To mark the 30-th anniversary of the partnership between Lublin and Rishon LeZion (Israeli city), the first day of the Festival will be fully devoted to Israel. Olga Mieleszczuk, who is coming to Lublin from Israel especially for the Festival, will perform on August 9 th, officially opening the 3rd Lubliner Festival with her recital “From Rishon LeZion to Lublin".
The programme of this year’s edition will include exhibitions and educational events. Over the six Festival’s days the audience can participate in, among others, Israeli dance workshops, klezmer and art workshops, and a self-defense course for women that gained a great popularity last year. Walks around the old Jewish cemetery, excursions on a melex for seniors and a visit to the State Museum at Majdanek and the Yeshiva of Lublin have also been included in the programme.
