Baobab - a new space in the centre of Lublin for integration and inclusion - is being raised at Krakowskie Przedmieście 39b street. A venue for exchanging experiences, implementing projects, discussion and, above all, meeting point for migrants, refugees and residents of Lublin. The official opening ceremony is scheduled for the second half of February.

Baobab space is a new chapter in the partnership between Lublin and Lublin NGOs, triggered by the war in Ukraine and outflow of refugees. I do hope that this spot will not only be a token point on the social map of integration in Lublin - says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.

Owing to engagement of a number of social units, international organisations and Lublin companies, Baobab has been feasible to be achieved. It is run by Homo Faber Association in cooperation with other organisations.

Baobab will be a meeting place between newly arrived inhabitants and local communities. Part of this effort, some activities will be directed to the host residents of Lublin, bearing in mind, that a process of integration is a two-way approach - says Anna Dąbrowska, President of Homo Faber Association.

This valuable and productive experience gained from Homo Faber's background on inclusion, social integration of migrants, refugees, Polish women and men will be the foundation and core of newly developed Baobab. Assistance provided in Baobab will be initiated by an international, cross-sectoral group consisting of NGO employees skilled in working with and for migrant communities, humanitarian aid and human rights, as well as city officials dealing with social participation, cooperation with NGOs, integration policy for foreigners and equal treatment.

Ventures carried out in Baobab are financed by UNHCR.
