Carnaval Sztukmistrzów is a festival presenting new circus arts, acrobatics and clown shows. It has been held in Lublin since 2008. During this time street performers and masters of circus arts worldwide arrive at Lublin to present mind-boggling acts.
The essence of Carnaval is to have fun. Fun has always been accompanied by ludic art. And we use its new manifestations – new circus and busking – to open a time of shared celebration.
The city fills with street performers and circus masters from all over the world putting on their magical and breathtaking shows. The Carnaval stands out as the most diverse festival through its variety of programmed shows and performances. It is a one and only and most inspiring bazaar of art. Lublin’s Carnaval has best-in-class contemporary circus, clowning, acrobatics and busking from around the world. The Carnaval coincides with Urban Highline: the oldest and the largest highline festival in the world. The festival of walking on lines is thought as evoking the element of the city’s identity – embedded in the iconic figure of the Magician of Lublin created by the Noble Prize winner Isaac Bashevis Singer – combined with an emerging discipline of slackline. All attractions are clustered within the city centre, especially its historic part. In addition to unusual artistic and sports emotions, juggling and slackline workshop modules, or a playground for children, Lublin also gains an extra aesthetic appeal thanks to extraordinary illumination of the Old Town building façades.
Let Carnaval begin!!!
