Lublin begins work on strengthening the role of culture and art together with cultural projects in the cross-cultural integration process.
Positive energy has always been inextricably linked with culture of Lublin and its inhabitants. Moreover, it has largely contributed to a social integration. This happened during the candidacy for the European Capital of Culture title and during the celebration of the 700th anniversary of chartering the city rights in 2017.
Today, Lublin and its inhabitants face a tremendous challenge. In a very short time, thousands of Ukrainians who had fled the Russian invasion, sheletered themselves in our city. We wish our municipal culture supported the integration of Lubliners and people who are coming to Lublin. Facilitating integration through culture is the best way to link Lublin and Ukrainian families. Such a dialogue will be facilitated by a new platform spilnakultura.pl intended for a cultural cooperation.
This Ukrainian-language site is launched by Centre of Culture in Lublin with information for Ukrainian artists and people of culture. This unique enterprise is only the first of many integration activities to be coordinated by Dariusz Jachimowicz, the Plenipotentiary for Inclusion through Culture appointed by the Mayor of Lublin.
Dariusz Jachimowicz is a well-known culture manager who was involved with Lublin in the past - among others, in competition for the European Capital of Culture title.
The city authorities estimate that about 30,000 refugees from Ukraine are currently staying in Lublin.
