Regarding Russia's aggression against Ukraine, Lubelski Społeczny Komitet Pomocy Ukrainie (the Lublin Welfare Committee for Ukraine) has been operating at the Centre for Culture in Lublin. It provides help and information to people from Ukraine and coordinates the work of aid organisations and volunteers. On a specially created telephone number +48 533 39 15 69, volunteers provide information on social and living matters, psychological and medical support and legal assistance for people fleeing the war in Ukraine.

No person escaping from the war and ending up in Lublin, has remained and will stand alone. For several days, we have been working exhaustively to provide accommodation and all the necessary support to all who have arrived here. As of today, five accommodation facilities remain in operation, several more are in store, ready to be launched with first contact teams operating there. People who find shelter there, receive food, care as well as psychological and linguistic help - says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.

Emergency accommodation points for people fleeing the war in Ukraine were launched in several locations in Lublin on Friday evening (February 25). At present, over 500 people can be accommodated there. The Municipal Family Support Centre, together with the Crisis Intervention Centre and volunteers, is responsible for the coordination of the food supply chain and the care of people seeking shelter there. First contact teams providing psychological and linguistic help operate in these places.

Blankets, sleeping bags and linen, all the necessary dressings, cosmetics and personal care products, water, drinks and directly-consumable food are the fundamental and basic needs at this moment in time.

The Polish Red Cross has begun collecting donations for Ukrainian refugees in the wake of the Russian invasion of the country.
