Supporting people with disabilities through the coronavirus outbreak

As a result of the epidemic, people with disabilities cannot use the care provided in a rehabilitation centres. They can count on subsidies amounted to 500 PLN monthly.

Assistance is provided to people with disabilities who have lost their ability to use - for at least 5 consecutive working days - care provided in a rehabilitation centre during the period from March 9 to September 4, 2020. It covers the costs associated with providing care at home. The amount equals PLN 500 monthly.

How long the assistance would be granted for?

The support (PLN 500 monthly) for a person with disabilities would be granted up to 3 months. Moreover, lack of care access in a rehabilitation centre (for at least 5 consecutive working days) should be indicated in the form.

Note!

The subsidy does not cover the month with additional care allowance. The grant is provided under the Special Act aimed at preventing and fighting the coronavirus epidemic.

Who can get the assistance?

The support is directed to people with disabilities:

  1. participants in occupational therapy workshops,
  2. charges of Day Care Centres,
  3. charges of rehabilitation centres that are financed by PFRON (The State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled People),
  4. participants of programmes and under these programmes approved by the PFRON Supervisory Board. They benefit from support provided by rehabilitation facilities,
  5. adult (from 18 to 25 years old) participants of revalidation and educational classes (organised in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of National Education) for children and adolescents with severe intellectual disabilities,
  6. adult (from 18 to 24 years old) pupils of special education schools operating on the basis of the Educational Law.

Who is in charge of the programme implementation?

Poviat self-governments (that will apply to join the programme) are in charge of the programme implementation. A self-government will designate an organisational unit - most often it will be a Poviat Family Support Centre. It will consider submitted applications and make decisions regarding assistance.

How to apply?

Applications should be submitted through the Support Service System financed by PFRON (SOW system). If it is not possible to use the SOW System, you may submit the application e.g. electronically, by post or in person. In the latter case, the application should be downloaded from the Fund's website.

We encourage you to submit applications via the SOW system. It is the safest option nowadays. What is more, you do not need to have a trusted profile or electronic signature - just create an account in the system.

On behalf of minors and those who are partially or totally incapacitated, their legal guardians may apply.

Deadlines!

Applications must be submitted from April 10 to September 4, this year on a continuous basis. 

Food aid for foreigners

Citizens of EU, foreigners residing and staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland on the basis of a permanent residence permit, persons with a temporary residence permit granted in connection with refugee status or granted subsidiary protection, persons with permission to stay for humanitarian reasons, persons with consent for tolerated stay, can receive social assistance on the same terms as Polish citizens.

The food aid is provided under the EU Operational Programme Food Assistance 2014-2020 (FEAD) among the various forms of assistance
