Lubliner Reunion 2023

Lubliner Reunion 2023
07.07.202309:06

On July 2-6, the Lubliner Reunion was held in Lublin. Lubliners are descendants of Lublin Jews, currently living in various regions of the world. Their families emigrated from Lublin due to all-maner of circumstances: before World War II, looking for an improvement in the economic situation or, already in post-war times, as a result of persecution and political witch-hunt. In July this year, they met again for the 3rd time in Lublin. The catchphrase of Lublin Reunion 2023 was storytelling. The programme of the Reunion included lectures devoted to the history and culture of Jewish Lublin, ancestral workshops, thematic walks, commemorations and artistic events.

On July 4, Lubliners had the opportunity to meet in Yeshiva, at Lubartowska Street, with Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin. They talked not only about the heritage of Jewish Lublin, but also about the present day. In addition, they visited the most important cultural institutions of Lublin, and took part in organized tours of the Lublin region. Today, Lubliners living in different parts of the world are still interested in the situation of Lublin and Poland, especially in the face of the war in Ukraine and the large number of refugees staying in our city.
