New Metropolitan Station in Lublin
15.01.202410:15

The new Metropolitan Station in Lublin has been built in the central part of the city, adjacent to the historic 19th-century building of the Lublin Main Railway Station (PKP Lublin Główny). The Metropolitan Station itself is the main component of the Integrated Communication Centre. Moreover, it is a comprehensive infrastructure project aimed at connecting metropolitan, regional, and national transport. A modern and largest communication centre both, for the city and the region, introduces optimal and effective approaches to manage traffic, but also to fit into the historical and urban background. It will also be one of the most eco-friendly facilities of its kind in Poland. The new Metropolitan Station in Lublin will, undoubtedly, become one of the city’s landmarks.

The first passengers will be able to use the new Metropolitan Station at the beginning of 2024. We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. I am proud that after years of hard work and continued effort, Lublin has a new and unique communication complex. We will gradually increase its core purpose to best meet the needs of residents and all people visiting our city - says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.

The Lublin Railway Station is a three-story building with a usable area of approx. 18,000 m2 with an underground garage of the "Park & Ride" type. Not to mention, the Metropolitan Station building, platforms with stops for urban and regional vehicular transportation, underground parking for cars, taxi parking spaces and bicycle racks were also developed. The project includes a green roof that is open to users. Not far from the Lublin Railway Station, a spacious parking lot with 122 parking spaces for buses and minibuses waiting for departure was built.

New Metropolitan Station is co-financed by the European Union under the Regional Operational Programme of the Lublin Voivodeship for 2014-2020. In 2019, the Metropolitan Station made the shortlist for the World Building of The Year Award in the Infrastructure category, presented at the World Architecture Festival. In 2020, it received the prestigious Real Estate Impactor Award from the “Rzeczpospolita” newspaper for Innovative Space Design. Futhermore, in 2022, it was honoured in the PLGBC Green Building Awards in the category of Best Eco-friendly Project.
