14 TH OLD TOWN CHRISTMAS EVE


Programme

18th -20th December
9.30 a.m. - 11.50 a.m. - ANIOŁKOWO – Klanza and the Dominicans (Dominican monastery)

every day:
4 groups – Angel-making workshops + the meeting concerning Christmas traditions from other cultures
4 groups – Bethlehem-building workshops + the meeting concerning Christmas traditions from other cultures
decorating Christmas trees with decorations made by children

10.00 a.m. - 01.00 p.m. – CAROL SINGING AT THE CRIB
10.00 a.m. - 12.00 noon –carol singing for “Aniołkowo” groups
12.00 noon - 01.00 p.m.– carol singing for children and adolescents

2013 ANIOŁKOWO– these are workshops for 5 and 6 year olds. For 3 days, workshops are going to be organized for about 800 children (24 pre-school groups with about 35 participants each). During 80 minute meetings combining learning and fun activities, every group will have an opportunity to get to know Christmas customs of other cultures and take part in either Angel-making or Bethlehem-building workshops. Angels will be made of feathers, paper, glitter, wool, origami or kirigami etc. Angels made by children will be used to decorate the monastery cloisters or Christmas trees around the Nativity Scene, or children may take them home as keepsakes

During 3 day workshops, the Bethlehem City will be created as well. Every out of 24 groups, will build its own alley. Bethlehem will be made of white, silver and dark blue elements. In its construction, participants will use boxes of different sizes, tubes, pieces of various fabrics, paper and many other materials. After the works have been completed the city will be illuminated with lights.

21st December
03.00 p.m. – 08.00 p.m.– presentation of works in the contest “In the Dominican Footsteps” for the best documentary or film as well as the selection of winning works (Union of Lublin hall)
Organisers: Dominican Monastery in Lublin in association with St Dominik Guzman Junior High School and High School.

07.00 p.m. – „The Christmas Concert” – the concert performed by the Men’s Choir Kairos and the Final of Borys Somerschaf Workshops – admission free (basilica)
The programme includes pieces from different countries and periods, performers: the Men’s Choir Kairos with Guests

21st December – 6th January
10.00 a.m. - 06.00 p.m. – Bethlehem City – the opportunity to see „ Bethlehem City” created by children within „Aniołkowo” workshops (the monastery cloister)

22nd December - the Old Town Christmas Eve – for all Lublin Citizens and their Guests
9.00 a.m. - 04.00 p.m. – Dominican Fair (in front of the basilica)
11.30 a.m., 01.00 p.m. – Auction of Works participating in the contest „ The Monastery in the Heart of the City 2013” (cloisters)
04.00 p.m. – Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Mieczysław Cisło (basilica)
05.00 p.m. – Christmas Parade (around the Crown Tribunal in Lublin)
05.30 p.m. – Exchanging wishes and sharing of Christmas wafer, (at the Nativity Scene)
05.45 p.m. – Christmas Eve dinner, Santa Clause hands out presents, carol singing at the Nativity Scene.
