The participants of the meeting “Education for Business, Business for Education” discussed the issue of improving higher education and making it more geared towards jobs market. Issues of cooperation between business and educational circles within the scope of new financial perspective on the years 2014-2020 were raised.
Mr Krzysztof Żuk, the Mayor of Lublin, said during the debate “We have good basis and a favourable atmosphere for exchanging knowledge and resources between universities and entrepreneurs. We talk with every investor, who appears on the market, about the possibilities of cooperation with universities, we place great focus on promotion of our potential which dwells in Lublin’s academic spirit. We also place emphasis on entrepreneurship of students, by creating such projects as Start-ups and running such forums of exchanging knowledge as Lublin medical cluster. We have detailed analysis of detecting investment potential of our city drawn up by Deloitte. As a city we are well prepared and we are a strong partner for bringing business and education together.”
The following took part in the discussion: Rector of the University of Silesia, the President of the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland, prof. zw. dr hab. Wiesław Banyś, the Marshall of the Lublin Voivodeship Krzysztof Hetman, the Mayor of Lublin Krzysztof Żuk, the Rector of UMCS in Lublin, dr hab. prof. nadzw. Stanisław Michałowski, the President of the Employers of Poland dr Andrzej Malinowski, the Vice-President of the Employers of Poland Zbigniew Kmicic and the Rector of the Lublin University of Technology, prof. dr hab. inż. Piotr Kacejko. The discussion was chaired by the UMCS Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and International Relations in Lublin, prof. dr hab Ryszard Dębicki.
The debate was organised by the Employers of Poland, the Employers of Lublin Region and Lublin academic circle. The meeting took place in the Media and Art Incubator at UMCS.
