IBM employees for the benefit of the residents

During these monthly missions, IBM employees from 12 countries, including the United States, Canada, France, Singapore, China and Argentina, will use their knowledge and experience to prepare a set of recommendations aimed at improving the quality of residents' life. Within the Corporate Service Corps program, IBM cooperates with PYXERA Global, an NGO which chooses a place, organises the arrival and manages volunteers’ work during their stay at a particular site.

During a monthly corporate volunteering service, i.e. IBM Corporate Service Corps, IBM experts will determine the key challenges for the chosen projects, such as information management system, internal communication, communication with foreigners or strategy for business incubator. These studies will contribute to the development of local governments, organisations and companies.

“I am very pleased that Poland, and Lublin in particular, was chosen for the place where the Corporate Service Corps will be implemented. We will be working with colleagues from all over the world, trying to find out how to improve the quality of residents' life. The Corporate Service Corps program is one of the IBM' s corporate social responsibility programs. Within the scope of such programs we offer our best employees’ time and new technologies to public and non-governmental institutions,” said Anna Jawor, Corporate Citizenship & Corporate Affairs Manager, IBM Poland.

The employees work in international groups, which enables them to learn how to cooperate in an international environment, as well as to explore culture of a given country and region. Corporate Service Corps is both IBM's corporate social responsibility program and future leaders' development program.

The project for the team supporting the City of Lublin Department of Strategy and Investor Services was successfully completed, and the IBM team made final presentation and recommendations on 26 March. More information about the team's journey on the project and also some leisure activities the IBMers enjoyed experiencing the culture while in Poland can be seen on Dave Schwantes' blog available under http://cscpolanderdave.blogspot.com
