Józef Łobodowski International Literary Award ceremony took place in Lviv on October 9-11. The event was accompanied by a promotion of Łobowski’s book „Przeciw upiorom przeszłości: myśli o Polsce i Ukrainie” [Against the Ghosts of the Past: thoughts on Poland and Ukraine] in the Ukrainian language version.
Józef Łobodowski International Literary Award is given by the Stowarzyszenie Pisarzy Polskich Oddział Lubelski association [Polish Writers’ Association – Lublin Branch] association the goal of which is to promote Polish literature in Central and Eastern Europe and encourage cooperation between the nations. An important area of the association's activity is the promotion of literary heritage of writers connected with Lublin. This year’s Award was given to Zbigniew Chrzanowski, Director of the Polish Folk Theatre in Lviv, professor Pavlo Hrycenko, Director of the Ukrainian Language Institute at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Andriy Pavlyshyn, a journalist, social activist, historian and translator.
Each year the City of Lublin supports the Association's efforts to organise the ceremony.
