“It is the second time that Lublin has been placed so high in such a prestigious ranking. It is a great honour for our city and it proves the right direction of the undertaken development strategy. We can see how Lublin is opening to the world and is becoming a city with better living conditions, reasonable resources management and entrepreneurship development. In the years to follow, we would like to keep that development pace,” said Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of the City of Lublin.

On behalf of the Mayor of the City of Lublin, the prize granted by fDi Magazine was accepted by Mariusz Sagan, Director of the Department of Strategy and Investors Assistance, at the “Polish Cities of the Future Awards” gala which took place on Monday, February 23, in the Regent Warsaw Hotel in Warsaw.

Lublin was awarded in three categories. Lublin was ranked second in the category of “Top 5 Large Cities - Cost Effectiveness,” outclassing such cities as Szczecin or Cracow. In the category of “Top 5 Large Cities - Human Capital and Lifestyle,” Lublin was placed fourth, outrunning Poznań and Łódź. Lublin was also among 15 Polish cities in the category of “Top 15 FDI Strategy,” which was constructed on the basis of the strategy of attracting foreign direct investments in particular cities and which is the only category that has a qualitative character.

There are 500 companies with foreign capital that are important for the economic development of Lublin. Mobica, a British software company, and Austrian Trimetis, a company that specialises in IT and consulting services which set up the first Polish unit in Lublin, can be listed among newly founded companies that have been operating in the city since 2014. When it comes to the companies that are recognised worldwide, Convergys, a company that provides customer service for German-speaking customers of the telecommunication company Telefonica, established in Lublin its business service centre in 2014. As far as the logistics sector is concerned, Millennium Logistic Park company and the Goodman Albertic Logistics enterprise, which is now finishing the construction works of its impressive seat in Lublin, should be mentioned.

An Influx of new companies with foreign capital means that there is an ever-growing potential of the city. Geographical location of Lublin, young and highly educated workforce and actively developing academic facilities, together with low costs of conducting business activity, create convenient conditions for foreign companies’ investments,” underlined Mariusz Sagan, Director of the Department of Strategy and Investors Assistance in the Lublin Municipal Office.
