Lublin in the Basketball Ekstraklasa

Lublin is an academic city, has a great basketball tradition, stable team and all the necessary infrastructure. The Globus sports and entertainment hall is prepared for Ekstraklasa [Division 1] matches. Before the season, in September, first the professional league tournament, then the games of basketball league, will take place.
“This is a very good and historical message. After many years, basketball has come back to Lublin. This initiative was strongly supported by the Mayor of the City of Lublin, Mr Krzysztof Żuk. Because of that, Lublin is re-entering the Polish elite basketball teams now,” said Marek Lembrych, President of Lublin Basketball Association, visibly satisfied.
Lublin is the second city in Poland which allows clubs to use sport infrastructure at schools within the scope of the program called „Sportowa szkoła” [“Sports school”].
“The city takes care of its athletes,” assured Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of the City of Lublin. “We are gradually forming new teams, there are 23 sports classes in Lublin. The invitation for Klub Start SA Lublin is a great honour for us and a guarantee of a high level games for the residents. The club is well-prepared and will meet the requirements connected with playing in a professional league,” added the Mayor.
“It is a huge honour for the club and the whole city,” rejoiced Arkadiusz Pelczar, President of Klub Start SA Lublin. “A lot of hard work is yet to come, but we are not afraid of it. We have a noble goal to consistently build a solid team and Ekstraklasa is the determinant of the pyramid.”
