Lublin was short-listed for the European Public Sector Award among a group of other 9 European Municipalities. Lublin is to compete against the likes of Barcelona, Amsterdam and Dublin. Lublin was recognized for its comprehensive contribution towards public participation which is implemented under umbrella term “Your City. You Decide!” .
The European Public Sector Award is given by the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht. Lublin's activity has been deemed by the jury panel as a good example of proper management in public administration and thus appreciating Lublin's contribution to public participation. Civic budget in addition to cooperation with non-governmental organisations are, among others, elements of engaging citizens.
Lublin's nomination for the European Public Sector Award is, in fact, the success of Lublin's residents. External experts recognized their commitment. I am delighted that the work we are doing together receives credit from external observers – says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin City.
A body of experts of the Institute comprising practitioners and scholars in issues of public administration will decide whether Lublin receives the award. The decision will be announced during the gala reception held on 17 November in Maastricht.
