Lublin took the first place in the competition “I support safely” which was launched by the Ministry of the Interior and received funding amounting to 60 000 PLN from the government programme “Together is safer” which aims to limit criminality and antisocial behaviour. The awarded project “Lublin supports safely” will be implemented in cooperation with the Strat Lublin S.A, City Sports Club and Municipal Police Headquarter in Lublin.

 

“I support safely” targets Lublin residents, especially children and school pupils. The aim of the project is to implement the programme which will allow the establishment of standards of safe and active behaviour during sports events. The main element of the project is to promote the “fair play” rule as well as cultural and safe supporting during sports events.

 

We are happy that Lublin can boast not only about modern sports infrastructure at the international level but first of all about good practices of high quality concerning safe supporting which have been created in our city. These actions are part of getting ready for such sports events as the European Youth Football Championships which will be organised also in Lublin in 2017 – says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin City.

 

“School Supporter Clubs” will be created in chosen schools which will receive gadgets of a supporter enabling supporters to applaud loudly and friendly during sports events as well as special Safe Supporting Cards which are entry passes admitting to all basketball matches of MKS Strat S.A. Lublin. Attendance figures will be tallied up in the end of the project and the clubs members who will go to the matches most often will receive prizes.

 

The participants of the project will take part in informational and educational meetings with the representatives from the bodies which are to assure safety during sports events, the representatives of organisers of sports events, referees and sportsmen, especially with the members of MKS Strat S.A. Lublin.

 

Safe Supporting Code as well as Little Supporter Sphere will be created for the youngest participants of the events. Children who will come to the matches with parents will be amused by a child minder.

Three matches have been played so far during which children and young people supported basketball players from MKS Strat S.A. Lublin. Match Mascots in the form of Goats encouraged to support safely. The group UDS Cheerleaders provided the artistic events. The last encounter that took place in the Globus Hall on Sunday  (25 October) attracted over 2400 supporters, mostly families with children.
