Lublin took the 4th place in the Ranking of the Most Rapidly Developing Municipalities in the years 2003-2014 in the category for the cities with poviat (district) status. The ranking was presented during the conference “Sustainable Socio-Economic Development of the Self-government Units” which was held in the Polish Parliament on 23 October.

The Ranking of the Development of Self-government, which is prepared under the direction of Professor Eugeniusz Sobczak from the Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences at Warsaw University of Technology, is created on the basis of the analysis of 16 indicators which concern three spheres of development: economic, social and environmental. The ranking is prepared on the basis of the independent data from GUS (Bank Danych Lokalnych) (ang. Central Statistics Office – Local Data Bank) and includes all the entities of the local government in Poland which are divided into urban communes, urban-rural communes, rural communes and the cities with poviat (district) status.
