Thank you for your trust. I count on a substantive discussion on important issues concerning Polish cities and metropolises,” said Mayor Krzysztof Żuk.

A new Management Board of the UPM was chosen during the first meeting of the local government in its 7th term of office. Rafał Dutkiewicz, Mayor of Wrocław, is now the new Chairman. Piotr Krzystek, Mayor of Szczecin, remains at his post as the Secretary of the Management Board, and Mirosław Czekaj, Treasurer of the Capital City of Warsaw, remains at his post as the Treasurer of the Management Board of the UPM. Members of Management Board are: Paweł Adamowicz (Mayor of Gdańsk), Tomasz Truskolaski (Mayor of Białystok), and Krzysztof Żuk (Mayor of Lublin).

The Union of Polish Metropolises comprises the biggest cities in Poland. The UMP is a forum for the cooperation of mayors, deputy mayors, secretaries, treasurers, directors of departments and experts from the following cities: Białystok, Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Katowice, Cracow, Lublin, Łódź, Poznań, Rzeszów, Szczecin, Warsaw and Wrocław. Representatives of the member cities work in 12 committees of the UPM. The committees prepare positions and statements for the Management Board and the UPM Council on the issues that are important for the development of metropolises.

UPM supports the development of territorial and economic self-government, promotes initiatives and actions aimed at building and managing regional and local structures, and solves specific problems of large cities. Moreover, it cooperates with government agencies and national, foreign and international organisations to enhance European integration and the role of metropolises in the country.

On March 5, 2015, the General Meeting of the Association of Polish Cities chose Mr Krzysztof Żuk as the Vice-Chairman of the APC. The following persons have been elected for the APC’s 7th term of office (2015-2019): Zygmunt Frankiewicz (Mayor of Gliwice), who is the Chairman of the ACP, and Jacek Majchrowski (Mayor of Cracow) and Marcin Pluta (Mayor of Brzeziny), who like Krzysztof Żuk, have become association’s Vice-Chairmen. Krzysztof Kosiński (Mayor of Ciechanów) is now the Secretary of the APC and Andrzej Pietrasik (Mayor of Płońsk) has become the Treasurer.
