Mayor of Lublin awards for NGOs

The contest was carried out in two stages. During the first stage, the residents had a chance to recommend the NGOs and informal organisations which they considered worthy of the award. In the second stage the Competition Jury revised those recommendations and chose the winners for the best initiative in 2013. Its task was to recommend the winners in the initiative 2013 and overall activities categories to the Major of Lublin. The awards in these categories are cash prizes of PLN 5,000.
By establishing the awards for NGOs, we wish to highlight the initiatives that are particularly valuable for Lublin. We want to appreciate the everyday work of many committed people who try to make Lublin a resident-friendly city. We are presenting the awards for the first time but we hope that they will become a permanent fixture on the calendar of events connected with civic activities in Lublin says Krzysztof Żuk, Major of the City of Lublin.
After examining materials provided by NGOs and informal groups, the members of the Competition Jury made a decision to recommend the following organisations to the Major:
- Integrative Sports and Rehabilitation Centre “Start” to be presented with the award of the Mayor of Lublin for overall activities
- 14th Fantasy Festival Falcon 2013 organised by the Lublin Fantasy Association “Cytadela Syriusza” to be given the award of the Mayor of Lublin for the best initiative in 2013.
The award ceremony was held on November 9th at 7pm in Colegium Maius, ul. Jaczewskiego 4/6 Lublin. The ceremony was a part of the November National Concert. The artist performing was Capella Cracoviensis conducted by Jan Tomasz Adamus.
