Park Ludowy to be renovated

Park Ludowy to be renovated
25.09.201513:24

Initial guidelines on land use regarding Park Ludowy were finalised. Park Ludowy after renovation is to become a place where you spend your leisure time. A coherent redevelopment vision aims to give solutions for promoting active lifestyles and encouraging Lublin residents to visit the park. The project has been undertaken as a part of the Integrated Territorial Investments within new EU financial perspective.

The park located in the close vicinity of the intended Integrated Transport Hub is to function as the link between the station and the city centre. As the park adjoins the Bystrzyca river, it is, thus, situated nearby a spate of modern recreational facilities: Arena Lublin, an olympic swimming pool Aqua Lublin, modernized athletics stadium located on Zygmuntowskie Avenue and the Lublin Fair.

The aim of the revitalisation is to make once forgotten park the one that fits the space it occupies. Surrounded by the modern sports and recreational facilities on the one side and adjoining the Bystrzyca river on the another one, that is to undergo a complete renovation as well, Park Ludowy will be another place on offer, where one could spend his free time - says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin City.

As part of the project, treasured trees will be catered for, self-sown plants will be uprooted and new plants will appear in the park. Lawns and derelict alleys will undergo renovation. What is more, it will be possible to engage in many various activities within the park, since the whole space of the park will be divided into sections dedicated to various exercises. We want to make Park Ludowy a suitable place both for pursuing various, personal passions, spending leisure time, undertaking physical activities and the one where Lublin residents could have some fun and rest. Building a skate park, a gym, a canoe marina, street workout and many more is all on the cards.

The success of the park depends on how easy it is accessed from other areas of the city. Apart from that, elimination of architectural barriers that could separate park from the rest of the city, clearly marked entries as well as good integration with remaining districts is yet another factor contributing to the overall success. What remains to be done is raising awareness among Lubliners and general overhaul of the park – says Jan Kamiński, from Council for Culture of Space.

Preliminary concepts on the land use plan regarding Park Ludowy are available in the attachment. They would constitute the basis for developing conceptual and detailed design. The City of Lublin welcomes any remarks on the attached document by 15 October at .

The overall vision of Park Ludowy was developed following public consultations on Park Ludowy in 2011 (www.parki.lublin.pl) by way of further work that placed finishing touches on the original design plan. This vision was arrived at by the team tasked with carrying out public consultations in partnership with Lublin City Office.
