The city centre is going to change noticeably. We are going to enhance the quality of space which will become the landmark of Lublin. The redevelopment of Litewski Square will be carried in the framework of the project Revitalisation of Lublin's Downtown which is one of the projects to be funded by Integrated Territorial Investments. Funds for the renovation will be obtained from the Regional Operational Programme for Lubelskie region 2014-2020. Litewski Square is one of the most representative places in Lublin therefore we would like to finalise all works before the beginning of summer 2017 so that to enable Lublin residents to make use of the square in the jubilee year of the Lublin's 700th anniversary – says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin City.

Public space within Litewski Square of about 35 000 square meters will be cleared as part of the modernisation. An interactive complex of water facilities will replace the central fountain. Transforming of Krakowskie Przedmieście street, between Kołątaja street and Kapucyńska street, as well as Plac Litewski into a representative, pedestrian precinct will be another novelty.

Litewski Square will remain an appropriate place for holding celebrations, including the national ones. Initial modernisation works on the infrastructure and building of the new installation networks will start in the first quarter of the year 2016. Works within green belts and the ones concerning placing of paths and changing of the pavement will be carried out concurrently. The public toilet, which is in use nowadays, will be replaced by the underground toilet with the facilities for the disabled and the room for changing babies. An equipped playground for children is going to be constructed as well.

The preparations for the next phase of modernisation of the city centre are in progress. Lublin City Council has started working on the documentation concerning the modernisation of the pedestrian precinct. Employing of functional and architectural solutions will make the renovation of this part of the city possible which will be in line with renovated Litewski Square.

The redevelopment of Litewski Square is intended to be conducted within Integrated Territorial Investments for Lublin Functional Area as part of the Regional Operational Programme for Lubelskie region 2014 - 2020.
