Apart from Lublin, the list includes the following cities: Wrocław, Katowice, Kraków, Warszawa, Poznań, Sopot and Białystok. The abovementioned cities were designated by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The Cultural Program of the Polish EU Presidency is coordinated by the National Audiovisual Institute (as regards the events organized in Poland) and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute (for the events organized abroad).

Also, three cultural events which are included in the official Cultural Program of the Polish EU Presidency will take place in Lublin. These events include:

International Festival “Theatre Confrontations,” October 16-23, organized by the Centre for Culture;

International Festival “The Oldest Songs of Europe. Tradition and Avant-garde,” October 6-12, 2011, organized by the Centre for Intercultural Creative Initiatives “Crossroads.”

Two projects from Lublin received grants from the Adam Mickiewicz Institute awarded to events organized abroad during the Polish EU Presidency. These projects are: “Confrontations” (“Konfrontacje”) – Partnership for the Theatre organized by the Association for Cultural Education and “Bio-object” (“Bio-obiekt”) – a mobile vehicle for artistic events organized by the Centre for Culture.
