The Maria Curie-Skłodowska University is the largest public university to the east of the Vistula, with more than 70 years’ tradition. It offers more than 60 fields of study (including about 200 majors) delivered at 12 Faculties. Education is provided at 3 levels: undergraduate, graduate and doctoral. The university actively supports the idea of continuous education and therefore it also successfully conducts postgraduate courses in more than 80 fields of study. A modern teaching base, extensive library collections, partnering with business, or tailoring the education profile to the needs of the labour market, are only some of the characteristics of UMCS. The university focuses to a great extent on the internationalisation of education by organising traineeships, internships, international exchanges, and opening courses conducted in foreign languages. These activities make foreign students willingly choose this university – in the academic year 2014/2015, more than 1,100 foreigners studied there.
