A Premiere Performance by the Kinematics Dance Company

A Premiere Performance by the Kinematics Dance Company
29.06.201422:46

The opening night of Kinematics Dance Company’s new performance, “Spirograf” (A Spirograph), is scheduled for July 1.
The performance is the final result of the Mayor of Lublin Grant and is held under the auspices of the Academic Cultural Centre “Chatka Żaka.”
“Spirograf” (A Spirograph) is a sound impression variation on the surface of a picture. The patterns will be created by: Wojtek Pilichowski’s Intro ('Late Evening'), Wera Kidżeski (cello live), Agu (voice live), Kinematics Dance Company (movement live, choreography & direction). Collaboration: Maciej Lachowicz (sound engineer), Xvision Creative Agency (interactivity), Dariusz Gontarz (technical cooperation). I first heard “Late Evening,” a track from Wojtek Pilchowski’s new record to be released in autumn, performed live at Mariusz Owczarek’s radio show Mało Obiektywnie. ”It is a new approach, an INTRO into a new world, a new music formula, a new approach to distribution and establishing relations with fans and musicians. It is a musical adventure, a combination of the difficult fusion beats with electro and jazz themes,” says Wojtek Pilichowski in an interview published in the March issue of the Basista magazine (http://magazynbasista.pl/nowe-brzmienie-wojtka-pilichowskiego/ ), adding at the same time that electro is for him a “new ground, one that is very seldom, if ever, touched upon by musicians, particularly those who play live.” This combination of synthetic tones with a live band (bass, drums, guitar) evoked in me a very personal vision of a dance scene. I signed up at pilichowski.pl to receive by email a multi-pack of this release. I immediately sent an email to the manager describing the dance scene and asking them if we could use “Late Evening” in a new performance by Kinematics Dance Company, “SPIROGRAF.” Several hours later, I received a phone call: ”Good morning, this is Tomasz Lipiński speaking. We like your concept very much – our answer is “yes.” Daria, we have a studio version of the song for the performance.” A moment later I received an email saying: “I am so happy for you! I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the rehearsals and the opening night! It is great to contribute to the project with the (recorded) sounds. Greetings for everyone. Wojtek” – I jumped for joy and sent them a string of happy emoticons adding that it was like a dream coming true. The project is surrounded only by positive vibrations. Since March 2014 we have been operating under the auspices of Chatka Żaka, thanks to immense support from Basia Wybacz and the authorities of MCSU. It was at Chatka Żaka where we met Agu, who runs the MCSU Media and Arts Incubator and sings such that it leaves you breathless and you begin to feel microtones in your body. We asked her to take part in our latest production and currently we jointly work on a new direction for the Kinematics Dance Company. We feel honoured to be able to collaborate with remarkable cellist Wera Kidżeski, who fortunately found some time to work with us in between her reversals with Martwa Mucha, Sekta Denta, Elektyk and Sognato – the bands she collaborates with. The choreography, which I would describe as a variation on movement, was designed by Kasia Świerszcz, who also performs it together with Kinematics dancer Tomek Wójcik. In “Late Evening” their stage movement is a kind of scratching, while the stage becomes a vinyl record – metaphorically, of course. Now as for role – it boils down to taking care of the company’s good energy and putting our ideas and needs together.” Daria Dziedzic The movement of bodies in space is defined by the geometrical structure of the world. For the participants, both the artists and audience, the theatre of movement is a means of psycho-physical activity that makes part of a creative act. People yield to this movement – the theatre is simply a culmination of this process. © Kinematics Dance Company 2014 www.facebook.com/KinematicsDanceCompany Free tickets to the performance can be picked up at the Chatka Żaka's KIOSK ART Cultural Information Centre (Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).
