LSS - Orkiestra Osobliwych Dźwięków (CAL: The Orchestra of Curious Sounds) Are you interested in music and experimenting with sounds? Do you like expressing yourself through music? Would you like to learn how to play using different objects? If your answer to the above questions is yes, then help us create an orchestra of curious sounds and personalities! The Workshops of Culture invite both permanent and temporary residents of Lublin and all interested individuals of all ages to take part in a sound project aimed at founding an orchestra made up of everyday/unusual objects. The outcome of the project will be presented to a public during a special showcase in the Kalinowszczyzna district and at the Different Sounds Art’n’Music Festival. The project workshops will be led by Armenian composer and sound artist Vardan Harutyunyan, who was invited to Lublin under the international artist residency project, Laboratorium Sztuki Społecznej LSS (Community Arts Lab CAL).   LSS – Spacerowicz (CAL: A Stroller) If you are a Kalinowszczyzna resident and wish to help other city inhabitants or tourists discover this district, you can become a unique tour guide around the district and tell your unique story about it. The Workshops of Culture invite all residents of the Kalinowszczyzna district (the underaged should come to the first meeting with their guardians) to participate in workshops designed to create unique stories about this district. Workshop participants will develop their communication, self-presentation and group leadership skills, as well as learn how to create stories using theatre improvisation techniques. They will be given a task of creating their own stories connected with the Kalinowszczyzna district and then giving a tour round their individual paths to other Lublin inhabitants and tourists, thus helping them discover unknown sites of this district. Workshop instructors: Przemysław Buksiński, Arkadiusz Ziętek and Dominika Sergiej Laboratorium Sztuki Społecznej LSS (Community Arts Lab CAL) is an international residential art project focusing on using public spaces as sites of participation and cooperation. The project aims at building dialogue between the local community living in the Kalinowszczyzna district of Lublin on one hand, and artists and culture animators from Poland and the Eastern Partnership countries on the other hand. The project will be carried out from June to September 2014. Artists representing different fields of art will carry on activities involving residents of the Kalinowszczyzna district (called once the Lviv suburb), with an active support from local culture animators and tutors. The aim of the project is to carry out team-based activities that will encourage and inspire local residents to get involved in creating vibrant public spaces in the Kalinowszczyzna district. The role of the artist as a creator will be shifted to that of a teacher and guide, while the residents will become active recipients and creators of culture, instead of being merely passive observers.
