Addressed to participants from the whole Lublin Region, the competition is organized to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the January Insurrection. Competition organizers: Youth Cultural Center No. 2 in Lublin, the Department for Programmes and Promotion, and the Education Office in Lublin, the Department for Special Needs Education and Educational Opportunities. Participants Participants are predominantly junior high school students (e.g. working within the framework of junior high school projects) and secondary school students (in teams or on individual basis), but elementary school final grade history enthusiasts, as well as youth below 21 years of age (e.g. post-secondary school students) can take part in the competition, too. Competition entries Students make boards (100 cm x 70 cm) and digital works (presentation, film, Facebook fanpage) with “Memory Traces” that can be found either in their area or in other places in the Lublin Region. They can make use of their own materials (e.g. historic reconstructions, trip photos) or materials obtained from historians, collectors or the Internet, with their authors' consent. Boards and digital works should contain the following: a. photographs, artistic works (drawings, prints), boards (20 cm x 30 cm at least) can contain elements such as names of battle places, insurrectionary crosses or graves, monuments, commemorative plaques, streets or institutions named after Insurrection-related individuals, b. photo descriptions, including sources, c. map charts with legends. Each participant or team can make of up to 5 boards devoted to one topic. There is no limit to topics submitted. Prizes: Winners will be awarded diplomas, congratulation letters for team guardians and non-cash prizes, including several Sony video cameras and history books. The works entered for the competition will be displayed at the Po 111 Schodach Gallery (you can take a virtual tour of the gallery at www.mdk2.lublin.pl), then shown at interested institutions and uploaded to the Internet.
