Didgeridoo workshops
06.02.200915:38

Didgeridoo is a wind instrument from Australia used by the Aborigines in their religious rites. It is a wooden pipe traditionally made from trees that have had their interiors hollowed out by termites. It can be also made by mechanic drilling. The instrument is used in various music styles. The workshops allow the participants to learn the basic sound – dron, sounds based on vowels and consonants, sounds imitating animals, such as the Kookaburra’s or the Dingo’s, modulation of the basic sounds, breathing and rhyming. The workshops will be given by Maciej Lubaś, a didgeridoo player and maker. He has been playing the instrument since 2004, and has cooperated with the bands Dron, Tombas, and Zinioni. He gave workshops on the Slot Art Festival (2006-2008), Occupational Therapy Workshops in Świdnik, 13th International Folk Art Festival “Z Wiejskiego Podwórza” in Czeremcha, and Mikołajki Folkowe 2008 in Lublin. He practiced under the guidance of Ondrej Smeykal - a Czech virtuoso of didgeridoo. The workshops take place every Sunday at 12:00, room 12 in “Chatka Żaka” MCSU Academic Center of Culture, ul. Radziszewskiego 16. Contact: maciekdready1@wp.pl Phone: 503 451 600
