Culture Workshops invite Lublin residents to another series of thematic workshops.
Classes are held as part of "Districts of Culture,” a cultural development programme for the districts of Lublin. Participation in all workshops is free, but advance registration is required.
Dance Workshop: Popping/Electric Boogaloo Popping is one of the most eye-catching urban dance styles in the world. Participants will learn the dance basics and terminology; they will also learn about pioneers of particular popping styles. The workshop will end with a showcase performance by all participants. ­The classes will be conducted by Aleksander "Alkowy Funkowy" Tyburek, an experienced popper, winner of numerous awards and participant in the 6th season of You Can Dance. Wrotków Participants should be aged 14-30 years old. Classes will be held at the “Źródło” Community Centre (os. Nałkowskich, Samsonowicza 25), Sept. 11, 13, 20, 27, 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. Classes will be held at Secondary School Complex no. 6 in Lublin (Krochmalna 29), Sept. 12, 19, 26 and Oct. 3, 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm. Czechów Północny Participants should be aged 14-30 years old. Classes will be held at the “Miniatura" Community Centre (Śliwińskiego 1), Sept. 18, 25 and Oct. 2, 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. Beatbox Workshop Beatboxing is the art of creating music that consists in using the voice to imitate different sounds. Workshop participants will learn the beatboxing basics; they will also practise the art using a microphone, stage sound equipment and looper (Boss RC 50). Additionally, they will learn the fundamentals of beatbox recording and post production. The workshop programme is designed for both participants without any previous experience in beatboxing and those who are already familiar with this form of making music without instruments. The classes will be led by Lublin-based beatboxer and vocalist Hubert "Jahdeck" Pyrgies. Czechów Północny Participants should be aged 13-15 years old. Classes will be held at Frederic Chopin Middle School no. 16 in Lublin (Poturzyńska 2), Sept. 19, 26 and Oct. 3, 3:30 pm-5:30 pm. Classes will be held at Kornel Makuszyński Elementary School no. 34 in Lublin (Kosmowskiej 3), on Sept. 20, 27 and Oct. 4, 4pm-6pm. Music Production Workshop If you want to find out how to create background music, build a budget home recording studio, make sound recordings and mix tracks, then the workshop is for you! The workshop will be held at Redline Studio, a professional recording studio, where professional sound producers will teach participants how to make their own beats, use computer software for recording and editing sound, and set up a budget home studio. Workshop participants will also become familiar with principles of space arrangement and track recording. The classes will be conducted by Piotr “Oz” Radkowiak, Michał “Emesde” Dudek and Witold “V-Tech” Walencik. Śródmieście Participants should be 15 years old and above. Classes will be held at the Redline Studio (Al. Racławickie 2a), Sept. 21-22 and 28-29, Oct. 5-6 and 12-13; 10 am - 3 pm. Workshop on Stop Motion Animation Stop motion is an animation technique whereby individually captured frames are played at a frequency of 24 frames per second, creating the illusion of movement. Workshop participants will become familiar with various stop motion animation techniques, such as puppet animation, clay animation, cutout animation, graphic animation, pixilation and combined animation techniques. They will get to know the history of animation and make their own short animated films, too. Film animation workshops develop imagination and stimulate creativity of participants, helping them discover their creative potential. They are great fun and teach patience as well as teamwork. The classes will be conducted by Anna Chabros-Piłat, a painter, graphic artist and director of short animated films. Stare Miasto Participants should be aged 9-12 years old and 18 years old and above. Classes will be held at Culture Workshops in Lublin (Grodzka 5a, 1st floor), Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 5-6, 12-12, 11am – 4 pm. Joy of Creation Unites Generations: Workshops on Computers, Cooking, Needlework and Scrapbooking The workshop titled "Joy of Creation Unites Generations" offers interesting classes for children, teens and senior residents from the district. A time of creative freedom, the classes will combine the traditional with the modern. Seniors will share their knowledge and experience with the young, while the young will imbue seniors with vitality and help them enter the world of modern technology. The time spent working together will undoubtedly let representatives of different generations get to know each other better, leading to increased mutual acceptance. Seniors will feel needed and improve their brain fitness, while young participants will have an opportunity to develop their interests.
