Take a photo. Win prizes. Take part in the ”Traces of the Past” contest.
Go to the website of . Win one of 12 book prizes. 1. Select one photograph of Lublin from the period between July 22, 1944 through 1956. The photo can be taken from the Lublin City History Museum, Grodzka Gate- NN Theatre Centre or private collections. 2. Tell us what events, places or people are shown in the photo. 3. Locate this place in the space of the contemporary Lublin. 4. Take one or several photos. If the archive photo shows marching troops, historical staging is not necessary. It is enough to photograph the place when the troops would march. it is important that contemporary photos entered for the contest focus on the same themes (places, buildings) as historical photos. contemporary photos do not have to copy them slavishly (no historical staging required). You can take one contemporary photograph that interprets the old photograph, or an old photograph can be interpreted using several contemporary ones. 5. Put the photos together using a free licence graphic design programme. The deadline for submissions is October 10, 2013. More photos of Lublin in 1944 are available in the NN Theatre Multimedia Library at: www.biblioteka.teatrnn.pl How to search for photos: 1. go to www.biblioteka.teatrnn.pl 2. select “Iconography” under “Library” on the left-hand side (to narrow the search to photo collections only) 3. enter the date you are interested in into the search engine 4. after obtaining the search results, select “Date” in the “Narrow by Attributes” box on the left 5. the search result will show photos taken in the year you have entered The contest is part of the educational programme titled "Lublin 1944-45. A difficult fragment of history."
