The workshops are for both professionals and amateurs. They will be held at the NN Theatre (Grodzka 20) from 8 to 10 May 2015, from 10 am to 5 pm.
The organizers provide accommodation and dinners. By participating in the workshops, the participants agree to take part in a poetry slam contest. The workshops can hold 20 participants. They will be selected based on their experience in as poets, slam poets, actors or rappers; their willingness to try their hand at slam poetry or previous participation in poetry slam contests.
Slam Workshops
The poetry slam contest will be preceded by a series of workshops led by slam poetry theoreticians and practitioners, including the legend of Polish slam poetry Jaś Kapela, the winner of the first poetry slam contest ever held in 2003 at Stara Prochoffna. Another workshop will be led by Weronika Lewandowska, a slam poet and performer associated with the international spoken word poetry scene. Arkadiusz Ziętek, theatre artist from Lublin, will introduce the participants to the problem of improvisation. In 2008 he and Mike Hughes (Uncalled for Improv) led one of the first improv workshops in Poland which spurred the development of this kind of theatre in our country. Rapper Tomasz Dymek, also known as Dolar, will teach the workshop participant how to combine words with music. He took up freestyle, or the art of spontaneous verbal improvisation 16 years ago and performed onstage with such artists as Junior Stress and the Chonabibe collective.
