The Teatrikon Foundation will present secondary schools from Lublin with the Station of Culture Award for the second time.
Twelve schools have been nominated for the award. Lublin residents can support their favourites in online voting which began on Friday, October 11.
The aim of the Station of Culture Award is to promote secondary schools where students can not only study but also develop their talents. We believe that it is worth rewarding schools that are culture-friendly, supporting the artistic development of their students and participating actively in the cultural life of Lublin. It is thanks to such places that young people are offered exceptional conditions for development, explains Dariusz Figura, President of the Teatrikon Foundation. Based on nominations submitted by secondary school students, teachers and parents, twelve secondary schools from Lublin have been nominated for the award. The nominees will now be reviewed by the award committee comprised of representatives of the Teatrikon Foundation, students from secondary schools in Lublin as well as representatives of the municipal authorities, including the Head of the Department for Culture and Inspector of the Department for Education of the Municipality of Lublin City. Winners of the Station of Culture Award will be announced October 23 at a gala ceremony. Residents of Lublin can also support their favourites. Online voting began on our website October 11. Anyone can vote for the nominated secondary schools. Out of the voters we will choose nine persons who will be given prizes. The school that gets the most votes will be awarded a special honourable mention, adds Figura. Every day the Teatrikon Foundation will present on its website a short film about each of the nominated schools, along with a description of its cultural achievements. The nominees are: Stanislaw Staszic Secondary School No. 1, Hetman Jan Zamoyski Secondary School No. 2, Lublin Union Secondary School No. 3, Stefania Sempołowska Secondary School No. 4, Maria Curie Skłodowska Secondary School No. 5, Maria Konopnicka Secondary School No. 7, Zofia Nałkowska Secondary School No. 8, Zbigniew Herbert Secondary School No. 14, Maria and Jerzy Kuncewicz Secondary School No. 19, Lviv Eagles Secondary School No. 20, John Paul II Secondary School No. 24 and Ignacy Jan Paderewski Private Secondary School.
