The 9th Open City Festival of Art in Public Spaces in Lublin voted Best Event of the Year 2017 in a poll for O.pl. readers. The festival is organized by the “Crossroads” Centre for Intercultural Creative Initiatives in Lublin. Readers could vote for one out of twelve Events of the Month selected by the website’s editorial staff from the most popular entries in the Events section.

The Open City Festival of Art in Public Spaces is a series of artistic realizations in public space that explore the problem of creative presence of artists in the city from different perspectives, in particular dimensions of their practice such as individualism, vitality, fantasy, idealism and visionariness. The Open City Festival consists, among others, in sharing the power over a symbolic space of the city with artists. The Open City Festival also has a different, simple and straightforward goal – the introduction of new, fantastic and non-utilitarian art forms into the urban space is a symbolic and vital gesture of breaking the routine of everyday urban landscape.
