The Organization of African Unity (OAU) was founded on 25 May 1963 and it laid the foundation for the birth of the current African Union (AU). Africans all over the world commemorate 25 May as the Africa Day.

The city of Lublin is a second home for many African academia and is a growing global melting pot of various cultures from Africa, Asia and Europe. The organizers of the commemoration of Africa Day will take this opportunity to display the unique and various cultures of the African Continent in the spirit of Unity and solidarity. This Year’s Africa Day celebration theme – Reinforcing mutual partnerships and networks with Poland. Culture and business context for relations between Africa and Poland.

Objectives:
1. Celebrate Africa Day.
2. Create, maintain and increase awareness of Africa to the public.
3. Promote African Unity through local and international activities.

Organizers:
1. Marie Curie Sklodowska University (UMCS)
2. Africans In Lublin - Steering Committee (Informal)

The event is scheduled to take place at the Faculty of Political Science UMCS, along Plac Litewski.
