The exhibition "From the Union of Lublin to the European Union" is presented in the Lithuanian Square from 24 June to 21 July 2019.
It is one of the elements of the celebration programme of the Union of Lublin prepared by the City of Lublin. In 2019 we are also celebrating the 15th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union. Hence, to commemorate the event, we have prepared the exhibition ‘From the Union of Lublin to the European Union’. It features Lublin and tells about the role it has played in shaping the European Community of Nations. The city of Lublin as a blend of cultures and nations, has become one of the sources of the contemporary European community.
The signing of the Union of Lublin, the Provisional People's Government of the Republic of Poland also known as the Government of Ignacy Daszyński, universities’ role in building city’s multicultural identity, the opposition of the 1980’s, Lublin 1980 strikes and last but not least, Lublin as the centre of the international cooperation region-wide – this is our contribution in creating Europe.
The bilingual exhibition prepared for an international recipient, presents various faces of contemporary Lublin, where history closely intertwines with modernity and traditional culture with avant-garde. It was prepared primarily to promote the 450th anniversary of the Union of Lublin and the city in the international space. Owing to the cooperation with the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it has been presented in various European cities-Lviv, Minsk, Kharkov, Brzuchowicze (Ukraine) and Athens. In July it is going to be shown in Vilnius, Düsseldorf, Univ (Ukraine). The inhabitants of Košice will see the exhibition in September and October.
Now, the inhabitants of Lublin also have the opportunity to see the exhibition in four language versions: Polish, English, Lithuanian and Ukrainian.
