“Exotic Folklore” – Marcin Sudziński Photo Exhibition
10.02.200909:36

The exhibition „Exotic Folklore” inaugurates the opening of a new gallery in Lublin. STOP! Gallery is the new “baby” of Lublin cultural institution – Centre for Intercultural Creative Initiatives “Crossroads” at Krakowskie Przedmieście 39.
“Exotic Folklore” is a result of an inspiration with the phenomenon of Polish folk groups. Although they have emerged from the socialist spirit of promoting rustic culture, they still hold a strong position in today’s democratic Poland. Marcin Sudziński, a young and talented photographer from Lublin, invites us to explore his colourful world of black and white photography. His works are a combination of elaborate artistry of hand-painted silver prints and modern approach to the matter of Polish folklore. The artist’s strongly squinted eye forces us to reflect on the meaning of folklore and the way it functions in the collective awareness. Special guests of the opening will be Paweł Żak and Wiktor Nowotka, well-known Polish artists/photographers. The inauguration will also include a performance of an eccentric folk musician – Kazimierz Liszcz. @ STOP! Gallery, Krakowskie Przedmieście 39 26th of February 2009, 19:00 The exhibition will be open till 26th of March 2009. www.rozdroza.com
