Festival of Lublin Legends
22.09.201618:06

What legends do you know about Lublin? Do you know what happened in Lublin’s Town Square 700, 500 or 300 years ago? This Saturday the time in the Old Town will go mad and we will move for a moment to the extraordinary world of past epochs - the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Baroque, the Enlightenment and the interwar period to rediscover the greatest and most interesting mysteries of Lublin.
During the Festival you will see two premiere performances based on Lublin legends - Dintoyre (legend of the stone of misfortune) and The Fire in the Public House (story about the great fire of Lublin told by, among others, the city executioner), the outcome of collaboration between Łukasz Witt - Michalowski and Marcin Wronski. There will also be the legend about the Goldsmith’s beautiful and transgressive daughter, Złotniczanka, as well as many improvised stories by the Improv Theatre Poławiacze Pereł. The special guest of the Festival will be Krakow’s Dono Theatre, who will present their commedia dell'arte-stylized production about the life of burghers in past eras.

For the duration of the Festival,  the Old Town Square will become a magical melting pot of events and characters from more or less popular stories about Lublin dating back to the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment, the Baroque and the interwar period. The participants will have an opportunity to see what life was like in the old days, get to know the unknown historical facts about the life of the city, and participate in interactive and drama-like activities from the past.

There will also  be a special programme for children – a series of plays inspired by stories about legendary characters, a workshop on old dance and a location-based game. In addition to this, the programme includes special guided walks and crime stories from the interwar period in the Crime Archives.
An important element of the Festival is a special programme for people with hearing impairment: the spectacles and the guided walk will be translated into the sign language.
