Fiesta Alegria-Iberian Culture Festival
27.07.201010:56

Fiesta Alegria-Iberian Culture Festival is an interdisciplinary event promoting the cultures of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.
Fiesta Alegria is one of very few Polish festivals which focus on presenting the Ibero-American cultures as a whole, with its fascinating complexity and the merging of different nations and their traditions This international event was initiated due to the desire to integrate and activate communities involved in the Ibero-American cultures and was motivated by the passion for the rich culture of the countries of the Iberian Peninsula. Our ambition is to change conventional thinking about the culture of the region. What we want to show is that Spain is not limited to flamenco, that Portugal is not only about fado, but that it is defined by a wealth of cultural heritage , where historical, civilizational and trasitional influences intertwine and affect one another. Fiesta also provides an opportunity to meet Spanish artists and communities and to party together. This year's edition is addressed to all afficionados of Iberian culture, flamenco, traditional South American sounds and the work of Federico García Lorca. The festival's programme includes concerts, performances, video projections, exhibitions, lectures, live meetings with the Spanish and Portuguese language, dance, instrumental and wine workshops, fiestas flamencas, flamenco dancewear fair, dance events as well as Spanish food tasting. You will be able to listen to different varieties of flamenco from flamenco puro to flamenco nuevo as well as jazz, Arabic and African music mixed with the classical flamenco guitar and singing. You will also be able to listen to the Cante Jondo - the oldest flamenco songs, taste Spanish wines and try Iberian cuisine. In the evenings, you will be able to enjoy and have fun during fiestas with music, song and sangria. The festival will run from July 26 to August 1, 2010. PROGRAMME Wednesday, July 28.
