The Gardens of Songs festival is a holiday of auteur songs.This year's edition is devoted to Edward Stachura, since it's the 30th anniversary of his death.
He was a poet, songster, a wanderer whose legend started when he was still alive. His thought-provoking works and difficult life were full of existential anxiety mixed with praise of life and its values. Stachura's works are still universal and popular irrespective of changing fashion. The program includes recitals of young artists and performances of famous bards. The special program "Stachura 30 Years Later” comprises interpretations of Stachura's works. Among artists performing in Lublin are Mirosław Czyżykiewicz, Marek Gałązka, Anna Chodakowska, Lubelska Federacja Bardów and Stachura’s nephew – Jerzy Stachura Junior. There are also movies on Stachura's life and they will be screened on Friday and Saturday.
