Academic Center of Culture "Chatka Żaka"
On 4-7 December 2008 there will be the fourth edition of the Students' National Theatre Festival "Kontestacje" organized by the Academic Center of Culture "Chatka Żaka" in Lublin.
The idea behind the festival is to present the audience of Lublin theatres operating in the country's academic environments. We want to refer to the rich tradition of theatrical movements connected to "Chatka Żaka" from the late 70/80 and the festival "Student Theatre Spring”.
The name "Kontestacje" (Contestations) reflects the activities of independent theatres, opposing the establishment, seeking its own way, critical to the mainstream values. The festival does not have a formula of the competition in order to avoid the atmosphere of rivalry and race for prizes. It's basic premise is the activation of the students' interest in the theatre.
