17.03.200907:46

The next event organized as a part of the L² - Lublin and Lviv: the Culture to the Power of Two project, the Culture Workshops, is going to take place from 3-5 April at Popiełuszki 5.
The idea behind the L² project is to create opportunities for the artistic environments of Lublin and Lviv to meet. The direct contact between the two groups of people is the pretext for exchanging the knowledge and the “know-how” in the area of culture and art. In the long run, the aim is to build bridges between the two cities and enable common projects. This year’s Lublin L² edition is a reflection of the Lublin’s cultural attack on Lviv which took place in November last year. The considerable part of the projects that will be presented in Lublin where inspired by the contact between Ukrainian and Polish artists. The Workshops will be attended by artists, as well as managers of culture, curators, animators, journalists, and NGO representatives. This year edition of the project in Lublin reflects the cultural storm of Lublin and Lviv that took place in November. The projects which are going to be presented in Lublin were inspired by the contacts between artists form Poland and Ukraine. About 100 Ukrainian artists are going to participate in the event, and it is going to be probably the biggest presentation of Ukrainian culture in Poland. The presentations cover various areas: 10 projects by 20 authors concerning visual art (paintings, installations, multimedia, performance, photography); the main curator of the project is Wołodymyr Kauffman, the authors – mainly young artists; musical projects created by “JazzClub.Lviv” gathering about 200 musicians; the presentations include 3 jazz projects based on Ukrainian ethnic tradition and 3 projects by young artists who work with the new media (electronic music, video art); theatre – represented by “Next Step,” the laureate of Youth Amateur Theater Festival “Drabyna,” and Łeś Kurbas Theatre public space will host performances, happenings and paratheatrical events The project is part of Lublin's campaign directed at becoming the European Capital of Culture 2016.
