A cultural event named Multicultural Village will take place in Lublin on June 16 and 17. The village will be set up on Po Farze Square; African huts, Indian tipis, and the tents of Chechen refugees will be filled with music from all over the world. There will also be concerts of the African Bongo Bongo band and the Chechen Dzieci Wajnach group, exhibitions and savouring of Caucasus cuisine, film projections, Latin dances workshops,. The event is a part of the festivities organized on the occasion of the Refugee Day – June 20.
The Programme includes also lectures on refugees and their home countries as well as promotion of the cultural heritage the refugees can offer their foster countries. The Voluntary Service Centre will present the forms of their work with refugees, which is a part of the “Education for Integration - Partnership for refugees” project. The organizers want to stimulate people’s awareness of the refugees’ dire fate, and to promote cross-cultural dialogue as well as integration of the local community with the refugees in Lublin.
